Lorna Wellsteed MSc, FCIPD

Lorna Wellsteed has run Wellsteed Associates since 1993. Lorna has a professional background in Human Resource Management and has twenty years experience of working in personal and organizational development. After an early career in higher education administration, Lorna worked for a national training organization and strategic health organizations in Bristol and Liverpool, providing internal consultancy in management and organizational development. She has also worked as an Honorary Fellow in Human Resource Management at Manchester University. Lorna has built up a number of business associations, this includes working with OPP in Oxford running qualifying training for the MBTI®. Clients on these courses work in a wide-range of private and public organizations across Europe.

Lorna has an MSc in Organizational Behaviour from Birkbeck College, University of London and has expertise in a wide range of human resource and business psychology processes. These include the development of competence and behavioural frameworks, design and delivery of development and assessment centres, psychometric profiling, occupational assessment, action learning, coaching, mentoring, management and leadership development, career development and training. Latterly, Lorna has concentrated on developing sustainable approaches to learning and achievement. She believes that genuine learning comes from solving real problems in real time.

For many years Lorna had a lead role in a large-scale national management development programme for graduate trainees. Much of her current work includes the development of cross-organizational and multi-professional networks. This involves helping the leaders, managers and professional staff, who have previously had bureaucratic careers, adjust to the requirements to work and behave differently in ‘virtual’ organizations and systems. Lorna also works with top teams and leaders focusing on organizational and personal change. Lorna’s particular interests lie in working with individuals, teams and groups who are at key development thresholds and in building a strong link between individual, team and organizational performance. Her approach is to focus on behaviour that results in high performance and personal effectiveness.
